Malborough Tiles

Marlborough Tiles was founded at the beginning of the last century and now in the third generation of family ownership, they are one of the few remaining truly English tile makers. From the start their focus has been on design, quality and innovation. Marlborough use only the finest clay to make the tile biscuit, onto which they carefully apply opaque and transparent glazes in an array of carefully researched colours. Each glaze is individually mixed; they select from over 50 raw pigments and stains, expertly combining them to create the exact nuance of shade sought.

Malborough's team of talented ceramic artists then individually hand paint each design using the traditional majolica technique before it is fired in their 'state of the art' kilns. Perhaps then, the real secret of their success is the ability to combine the most modern of computerised technology with centuries old techniques of traditional tile making…the best of the old with the best of the new.
